Somehow, this is my tenth year of doing this blog. At least one post a month, on the first day of the month, like clockwork. I’ve covered all sorts of topics, but this is one I didn’t really see coming. For the past year or so I’ve really struggled to come up with ideas, and neglecting other projects because ‘I have to get a blog post out’. It’s very rarely been something I’m actually proud of, it’s most often been hastily scribbled at the last minute. And that doesn’t sit well with me, nor you, if the fall in views has been anything to go by — I blame it mostly on having to step away from the social media formerly known as Twitter. That algorithm was a lot kinder to me than the others seem to be. But as a result, I’ve come to a decision. I’m going to step back for a while.
This isn’t goodbye, not by any means. I just want some time to regroup, get some of my creative juices flowing on other projects I’ve been ignoring — my novel, for example. If I’m inspired and want to write something, I will, and post it on the first of the following month. But it certainly won’t be as regular as it has been in the past. I have a couple of bits and pieces I’d like to do over the next year, a couple of things to finish off. So I’ll do those and then keep dropping in every so often.
Lastly, I want to thank each and every one of you who’ve read my nonsense over the past ten years. I know it’s cliche, but people reading, liking and even subscribing to my writing really warmed my heart — there were times when I thought absolutely nobody would be interested in what I have to say, but you’ve all proven me wrong every time, and I’m sincerely grateful.
So it’s not goodbye, it’s… see you next time. If you’d like to keep in touch in the interim, I’m mostly just on Instagram or occasionally Threads (as @sprakskatan), and on BlueSky (@sprakskatan.bsky.social). Feel free to follow me there, if you’d like to. And as always, thank you for reading. I mean it from the bottom of my heart. And I’ll see you next time.
— J.
